Hello

I'm Bergá Thorgrimsdottir the girl behind Lopi Studio. I started my journey on December 13, 1987 in a small fishing village on the east coast of Iceland. After a few years I moved to Norway. At 18, I was eager to travel and decided to broaden my horizons by moving to the other side of the globe. In 2008 I started at the University of Newcastle, Australia, where I studied visual communication. The idea of Lopi Studio slowly rose under the Australian sun.

Now 13 years later, I live in the heart of Kirkenær in Hedmark. I have become the mother of an almost 2-year-old boy, and I am expecting my second child in January 2022.

I want the clothes I create to spread joy to the mind with their exuberant colors and patterns.

LOPI STUDIO

lopi.no is a Norwegian online store with an exclusive selection of clothes and accessories made by designer and founder Bergá Thorgrimsdottir.

Lopi is located in the heart of Kirkenær in Hedmark. Among other things, Lopi works with print to create unique garments. With a focus on experimentation, research and continuous innovation, the clothing brand will continue to create new unique products. We place functionality, quality and design high on the priority list when we design.

All our prints are hand painted or drawn here at Kirkenær.

CARRYING POWER

As a clothing manufacturer, it is our responsibility to recognize that no new clothing is 100% sustainable. It is therefore crucial that we manage to make clothes in the most sustainable way possible. It's a vague term - but it means

simply that what we use of the earth's resources for clothing production should be able to be replaced to the greatest extent possible,

and that it should do no harm. 80% of the climate footprint of a garment comes from production.

We must therefore choose raw materials and production processes with less environmental impact, but at the same time design garments that can be used many times over a long period of time - and which can easily be recycled at the end of the road.

Lopi Studio only chooses natural raw materials such as wool and silk. These materials are of high quality and can advantageously be recycled and reused in new garments or materials.

MULESING-FREE WOOL

At Lopi Studio, we do not tolerate unethical and inhumane treatment of animals, and only buy mulesing-free wool.

These deal with farming, transport of animals, safety, sustainability and general welfare.

At Lopi Studio, we strongly distance ourselves from mulesing, a painful procedure that is supposed to prevent fly larvae from settling in the skin of the merino sheep. The method is in use in Australia. We only buy certified mulesing-free merino wool, and mainly from South Africa, which does not practice mulesing.
